Next week not only marks the start of the Interieur biennale in Kortrijk, it’s also the start of Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Design Acadamy graduate Pieter-Jan Pieters will present his graduation project called Music on Intuition:
“Music on intuition is a project consisting of five instruments that translate your movement into sound. Imagine making a waving motion with your arm would result into a waving sound. When you want to hit a high note, you literally have to reach high, or that tapping your foot or finger would be translated into a rhythm and that the tempo of that rhythm would be controlled by your heart beat.”
The project immediately reminded me of the latest accessories for Teenage Engineering’s fun little OP-1 keyboard, something that has been on my wishlist for years. Unsurprisingly, Pieter-Jan worked as an intern at Teenage Engineering during 2011.

I had to travel all the way to Barcelona to discover that in 1977 Gordon Matta-Clark transformed a derelict building in Antwerp. If you visit the MACBA somewhere before the end of october, you’ll find two big rooms devoted to Office Baroque. And whilst you’re there, make sure to check out the Martin Parr exhibition at CCCB(right next door to the MACBA).
