Since december is all about the art of giving and making people happy: this collector’s box would make a very nice gift:
mono.archiv #02: Miranda July - Paweł Althamer - MVRDV - Michael Ballhaus - Dries van Noten - Tilda Swinton - Ai Weiwei - Sissel Tolaas - Cyprien Gaillard - Dave Eggers - Manfred Eicher / ECM - Ryan McGinley - Bless - Chris Taylor / Grizzly Bear - Chris Ware
Creative duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh have created a new installation called Framework. On display next to Leuven’s biggest pride: the Stella Artois brewery.
I had to travel all the way to Barcelona to discover that in 1977 Gordon Matta-Clark transformed a derelict building in Antwerp. If you visit the MACBA somewhere before the end of october, you’ll find two big rooms devoted to Office Baroque. And whilst you’re there, make sure to check out the Martin Parr exhibition at CCCB(right next door to the MACBA).
A Brief History of John Baldessari, narrated by Tom Waits (by gosupermarche)
Hennessy Youngman on Damien Hirst: “the Bono of the art world.”
On Way Home by Turner prize 2011 nominee George Shaw.
C.O.-B.U. 05 by Dirk Braeckman
If you find yourself in Leuven, I can highly recommend visiting the Dirk Braeckman expo at Museum M.
Metropolis II by Chris Burden. I want to see this installation in person, but untill then, I’ll have to do with this one here in Leuven.
Tunnel by Jens Reinert (via ///)
Of Walking in Ice by Stuart Bailes.
Room by Daniela Friebel:
A room with four, empty, white walls covered with a photographic wallpaper that shows an exact image of that room - slightly shifted. An illusionary room that expresses a changed architectural situation, and whose perspective works correctly only from one specific point in the room.
Geert Goiris at Galerie Catherine Bastide
Untitled (Nest) by Björn Braun
Braun offers different manmade materials to zebra finches to build intricately woven nests, which reminded me of this old post celebrating Darwin.
If you want to know more about Braun’s work, Mousse #20 features an excellent interview.
