The Postal Service - A Tattered Line of Spring (2013)
Oct14
Next week not only marks the start of the Interieur biennale in Kortrijk, it’s also the start of Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Design Acadamy graduate Pieter-Jan Pieters will present his graduation project called Music on Intuition:
“Music on intuition is a project consisting of five instruments that translate your movement into sound. Imagine making a waving motion with your arm would result into a waving sound. When you want to hit a high note, you literally have to reach high, or that tapping your foot or finger would be translated into a rhythm and that the tempo of that rhythm would be controlled by your heart beat.”
The project immediately reminded me of the latest accessories for Teenage Engineering’s fun little OP-1 keyboard, something that has been on my wishlist for years. Unsurprisingly, Pieter-Jan worked as an intern at Teenage Engineering during 2011.

Two things:
1. Efterklang & Vincent Moon (of La Blogotheque fame) made a movie. If you haven’t already attended a free screening, visit anisland.cc to view a list of future screenings in your neighbourhood. Or alternatively, you can host a intimate screening yourself. I highly recommend it.
2. Efterklang is phenomenal live. They are currently finishing their final Magic Chairs tour before going on a little creative hiatus. So if you want to see Peter Broderick dancing frantically because someone is sweeping under his feet with a broom, this is your last chance.

Something light and fun to enjoy over the festive period: Pascals. Named after the french composer Pascal Comelade, Pascals is a 14 member Japanese band who play a range of instruments from violins and harmonicas to ukeleles and toy pianos.
